Production and Design Workshops

Black Swan offers a range of performance, production, design and management workshops, which are beneficial for students undertaking drama examinations.

All participants receive a certificate of participation, including the teacher, which can be used towards WACOT professional learning.

 

Target Audience: High School Drama Students Years 10-12 

Where: At your school (no extra charge) or at the State Theatre Centre of WA (room hire charges will apply)

Bookings: Four weeks before the desired date.

Duration: Two hours

Participant maximum: 25

Cost: $325 ex GST & mileage

 

Design

Choose from the following: Lighting, Sound, Set, Props and Costume.

Assist students with production design elements when working on a production. Concentrating on the design element specified by the teacher and placed in the context of a full production, discussing the role of the designer and their part in the team. Identify key aspects of the design element and the responsibilities of the designer.

 

Production Management

Choose from the following: Stage Management, Production Management and Arts Management. 

Assist students with production management elements when working on a production. Concentrating on the management element specified by the teacher and placed in the context of a full production, students will discuss the role of the manager and their part in the whole team. Identify key aspects of the management element and the responsibilities of the manager.

 

Set Design & Model Making

Duration: Two hours or a full day

Participant maximum: 20

Cost: Two hours $325 ex GST & mileage; Full day $700 ex GST & mileage (9am-12pm, 1-3pm); Modelling clay $50

Exploring the creative process of design whilst teaching the students the importance of scale, the spatial environment, line, colour and texture. This workshop can be tailored to address the specifics of your chosen venue.

 

Arts Marketing

Duration: One hour

Participant maximum: 25

Cost: $175 ex GST & mileage

Assisting students with the process involved in marketing a performing arts production. Our visiting tutor will concentrate on the marketing element specified by the teacher and will place the element in the context of a full production.
