Behold the dying days of the travelling freak show and the true story of its star attraction: Julia Pastrana, the ape-woman.

Theodore Lent is a calculating businessman on the cutting edge of one of America’s most popular exports: the travelling freak show. When his wife (and star attraction) Julia falls pregnant, Theo couldn’t be happier. What could be better than two stars for the price of one?

However, dark clouds are forming in Theo’s immediate future, as he begins taking steps toward the decision that will cost him his friends, his sanity, and perhaps even his life…

A heart-wrenching world premiere of the tragic, true tale of Julia Pastrana from acclaimed WA playwright and 2013 Emerging Writers Group prize winner, Nathaniel Moncrieff.

"Beautifully staged...The play is as much a picaresque exploration of the complete moral failure of a man as it is the tragedy of his victim. Rebecca Davis threatens to run away with the show...she brings desperate power to her characterization." The West Australian

"Words can't describe it's brilliance. Perth - DON'T miss this!" Elisha, patron

"An impressive foray into a freakish world...The ominous 'now you see it, now you don't effect is brilliantly conjured." The Australian

★★★★★ "The staging and lighting were immaculately astonishingly humane performance by Luke Hewitt." Dircksey Magazine

"[A] lavish, full fleshed excellent story, beautifully guided by director Stuart Halusz. A very fitting part of the Winter Arts Festival given its wintery themes, it is well worth braving a winter night to see." Stage Whispers
